Length:                 Mohawk Trail; 2.3 miles

Difficulty:             Easy. Flat, paved & gravel trail. 

Directions:     

To Start from the Syndicate Road parking lot [Western End]; From the junction of Routes 2 & 7 in Williamstown, travel north along Route 7. After 0.9 miles, turn right on Syndicate Rd. parking lot on your left.     

To Start from the Spruces Park parking lot [Eastern End]; From the junction of Routes 2 & 7 in Williamstown, travel east along Route 2. After 2 miles, turn left into Spruces Park and come to an intersection. turn right to reach the parking lot.     

In Williamstown, the Mohawk Trail travels Southeast, along the Hoosic River before ending at Spruces Park, a former trailer park that was flooded during Hurricane Irene in 2011. Future plans call for connecting to the future Adventure Trail in North Adams. This is a planned 3.4 mile trail from the Williamstown line to downtown North Adams, effectively linking MASS MoCA and the Mass College of Liberal Arts, Williams College and THE CLARK . Future plans also include connecting the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail in Adams, North, to the future Adventure Trail in North Adams. See; ADVENTURE TRAIL PLANS .

Starting from the Syndicate Road parking lot [Western End]; Map Board. The wide, paved Mohawk Trail travels East, into the woods. You'll briefly come alongside the Hoosic River, before coming to Cole Field and a Map Board at 0.3 miles. The trail travels around the sports fields and along the river, turning South, inland past a skate park and out to Cole Ave at 0.9 miles. Trail then winds through the woods and along the river. Cross a bridge over Green River at 1.3 miles. After 1.6 miles the trail surface turns to gravel (a bit rough) as you travel past fields. Open area with nice hill views. You then travel past meadows, with old dirt roads as you enter Spruces Park. This used to be a trailer park, before Hurricane Irene flooded it in 2011. Come to the Spruces Park parking lot after 2.3 miles. Map Board. 

Note; If you follow the gravel road right to an intersection, an informational sign talks about the park. Left leads past a pollinator garden and small pond, out to Route 2 at 2.4 miles, where you'll find 2 huge white Lion pillars.
