Difficulty: Easy. Paved trail along a gently rolling, winding trail.
Directions:
To start from the Kimberly Ann Rock Athletic Complex; From I-95 northbound take exit 28 to Route 114 south (one-way). When you come to the Route 114 N & S intersection continue straight on Beverage Hill Ave to Route 1A and turn right. Travel 0.5 miles and turn left on Ferris Ave. Continue straight at the sharp turn into the Kimberly Ann Rock Athletic Complex. Bear right for the parking lot and trailhead
To start from Ten Mile River State Park; From I-95 take exit 2A to Route 1A south. Travel a bit over a mile and turn left on London Ave. At the end of London Ave cross Daggett Ave to the park entrance and parking lot.
The Ten Mile River Greenway follows the Ten Mile River from Kimberly Ann Rock Athletic Complex, past Slater Park to Ten Mile River State Park. Slater Memorial Park is a very interesting area. Some of its attractions include an 1894 Loof Carousel, the historic Daggett House which was built in 1685 and a pond built in 1937 by the WPA (In 1935, the Works Progress Administration was created to help provide economic relief to the citizens of the United States who were suffering through the Great Depression.) that has two cement bridges built to look like tree trunks with branch railings leading to a small gazebo. Starting from the Kimberly Ann Rock Athletic Complex; A map board is located here. The paved trail winds through the woods. White markers placed every 0.5 miles along the trail. You skirt alongside Central Pond which is formed from the 10 Mile River. Briefly travel alongside active RR tracks at 0.9 miles before traveling underneath a RR tunnel at 1.3 miles. The 10 Mile River flows through a stone canal on your right. Just past the 1.5 mile marker you'll find another map board at the Slater Park parking lot. You'll head back into the woods at 1.9 miles after skirting the parking lot. An automatic flashing cross-light gets you across Armistice Blvd at 2.2 miles. To your left is another entrance to Slater Park. The trail now travels along the 10 Mile River Reservation. Small dam located here. Pass a Spur Trail up to Parkside Ave at 2.7 miles followed by a cemetery. The trail ends after 3 miles at Ten Mile River State Park where you'll find another map board.
