Difficulty:             Easy. Flat stone-dust trail. 

Directions:     

From Route 8 northbound take exit 37 to Route 262 and head left. Travel 1.6 miles to Echo Lake Rd and continue straight another 1.3 miles to Deland Field parking lot on your right. Exit the parking lot and head left along the sidewalk to where the Steele Brook crosses Echo Lake Rd.

From Route 8 southbound take exit 37 to Echo Lake Rd and head right. Travel 3.1 miles to Deland Field parking lot on your right. Exit the parking lot and head left along the sidewalk to where the Steele Brook crosses Echo Lake Rd.

The Steele Brook Greenway is a planned 4.6 mile trail alongside Steele Brook. The first phase has been completed along the middle section. Long term plans seek to link the greenway into the regional Naugatuck River Greenway

Starting from Echo Lake Rd & Steele Brook; The paved trail will head north alongside Steele Brook in the future, but as of May 2014 it only travels a couple hundred feet before ending near a dam on Heminway Pond. Follow the sidewalk west along Echo Lake Rd to a cross-walk which brings you over to Princeton Rd. Follow the sidewalk south along Princeton Rd and you'll pick up the stone-dust trail on your left after 0.2 miles. The trail now travels alongside the brook behind the Siemon Company building. Cross a couple of small bridges before the trail currently ends at French St after 0.4 miles.
