Directions:
From Route 4 take exit 7 to Route 403. Exit to Route 1 (Post Rd) and head left. Take your first right on Gate Rd and turn left into the Shops At Quonset Point plaza. The trail starts behind the plaza off of Newcomb Rd. You may also park at the eastern end of the trail between the Quonset Point Bike Path & Sanford Road Path. Continue down Gate Rd to a traffic circle. Head left on Davisville Rd, then left on Marine Rd to the parking lot.
The Quonset Point Bike Path is located at Quonset Point which was the location of the Naval Air Station Quonset Point, a large United States Navy base. The peninsula is now used for industrial and commercial purposes and is partially abandoned. A major industrial tenant is a hull-fabrication and outfitting facility for Electric Boat Corporation. Starting from the western corner of Quonset Business Park; The paved Quonset Point Bike Path starts just off Newcomb & Post Roads. The trail runs alongside Newcomb Rd and behind the plaza. Mile markers every 1/2 mile. Just past the end of the plaza, up to your right, is the SEABEE MUSEUM & MEMORIAL PARK. No formal trail to reach it. The trail travels out in the open with no shade. After a mile the trail bears left through a residential area along your left and woods to your right. At 1.7 miles you head right into the woods and come to the end of the trail at 2.3 miles next to the Marine Rd parking lot. A Porto-potty is located here along with some benches.
Note; You may continue straight past the metal fence on NPS land along the Sanford Road Path. The path follows an old paved road past Allen Harbor on your right. At 3 miles a spur trail on the left leads over a boardwalk to Wilbert Way. You then travel between a pond and marsh before coming alongside Finn St at 3.4 miles. The trail then parallels Finn St & Petee Ave until you reach Calf Pasture Beach at 3.7 miles next to Narragansett Bay.
