Length:                 Mill Pond Way; 3.5 mile Loop

Difficulty:             Easy. Flat, crushed gravel trail w/some tree roots.

Directions:     

To Start from the Mill Way Pond Boat Launch; From the junction of Routes 69 & 322 travel south on Route 69 for 1.7 miles and turn left on Nichols Rd. Pass by the Woodtick Recreation Area parking lot and your right and turn left on Woodtick Rd. Quickly turn left on Scovill Rd and follow to the Boat Launch parking lot.

Starting from the Mill Way Pond Boat Launch; Map Board & overlook. 0 MILE MARKER begins here. Wooden MILE MARKERS located every 0.25 miles. The narrow, crushed gravel Mill Pond Way travels Northeast, atop a dyke along the Southern Side of the Scoville Reservoir on your left. Scenic open trail. Enter the woods at 0.3 miles where the trail widens. Pass by a Spur Trail on your right at 0.5 miles.

Note; This Spur Trail takes you to the St. Pius X Parish parking lot

The trail briefly travels below Woodtick Rd before turning North, along the Eastern Side of the reservoir and crossing Bridge #1 over Lindsley Brook before passing by a Spur Trail on your right and a Map Board.

Trail turns inland as you cross Bridge #2 over a brook at at 1 mile. Trail turns West and crosses Bridge #3 over a brook before returning along the Northern Side of the reservoir. Cross Bridge #4 over a brook and the trail briefly narrows with some tree roots. Cross Bridge #5 & 6 over a brook as the trail widens. Cross Bridge #7 over a brook, before traveling around a Day Camp and coming to a paved road (closed to traffic) at 1.8 miles. Follow this road North and just before Coe Rd you'll re-join the crushed gravel trail on your left. Pass by the Munson Road parking lot at 2 miles. Map Board. The trail turns South, alongside the road to an intersection.

Note; The old narrow, crushed gravel trail continues straight, alongside the road.

Turn left, where the trail crosses Bridge #8 across the reservoir to a small island. Here the trail Loops around the island through a Pine forest. Nice overlook of the reservoir. Return to Munson Rd and head left, crossing Bridge #8 over the Mad River. Trail continues South, through the woods along the Western Side of the reservoir. Come to an intersection at 2.4 miles.

Note; The old crushed gravel trail continues straight.

Head left, where the trail takes you down alongside the reservoir. Exercise course along this section. Pass by a connection to the old trail on your right, before passing a 2nd trail where the old trail joins the trail. Trail takes you up to Wolf Hill Rd at 2.9 miles. This section is narrow w/some tree roots as it travels just below the road. Pass by the Scoville Reservoir Dam on your left. This section travels above Cornelis Pond, bringing you to Nichols Rd. Here, the open, narrow trail takes you along the Southern Side of the pond, crossing iron Bridge #10 across a 2nd dam. Nice view of the large Scoville Reservoir Dam. Pass by the Woodtick Recreation Area parking lot on your right and the Woodtick Recreation Area on your left. Sports fields & courts, picnic tables, playground and beach at 3.2 miles. Trail turns North, back into the woods. Pass by the Scoville Reservoir Dam on your left as you return to the reservoir. Pass by an overlook of the reservoir before completing your 3.5 mile Loop.
