Length:                 Middlesex Greenway; 3.7 miles

Difficulty:             Easy. Flat paved rail trail.

To Start from the Middlesex Ave parking lot in Metuchen [Western End];

From I-287 Northbound take exit 2A to Essex Ave and turn right. First left on Bridge St, right on New Durham Rd, then left on Middlesex Ave. Parking lot on the right.

From I-287 Southbound take exit 3 to New Durham Rd and head left. Turn left on Middlesex Ave after 1.2 miles. Parking lot on the right.

The Middlesex Greenway follows the historic Lehigh Valley RR corridor from Metuchen East, to Woodbridge. For more information visit; MIDDLESEX GREENWAY .

Starting from Middlesex Ave parking lot in Metuchen [Western End]; Map Board, BIKE STATION and Porto-potty. The 0 Mile Marker starts here. Mile Markers located every 0.25 miles along the trail. Informational boards along the trail.

Note; Heading Northwest, the trail is undeveloped. Not sure if it's ridable.

The wide, paved Middlesex Greenway heads East, into the woods and underneath an active RR bridge. The trail is straight as an arrow. Travel through a below grade corridor underneath Lake Ave, the Graham Ave pedestrian bridge and Main St at 0.5 miles. Cross Pierson Ave, as you enter Edison Township, where a long pedestrian bridge takes you over Route 1 at 1.2 miles. This was as far as I traveled.

Note; This section of trail is part of the EAST COAST GREENWAY

The trail is now at grade, with two road crossings, before traveling underneath I-95 at 1.9 miles. Cross-light over busy Woodbridge Ave. Come to a cement ramp that brings you up to an intersection at 2.6 miles.

Note; Right leads to the Dudash Park parking lot

The trail then travels underneath King Georges Rd into Woodbridge Township, followed by Crows Mill Rd, before ending just before an old RR bridge over the Garden State Pkwy. The trail then turns left, out to E Williams St and Girl Scout Park, where you'll find a playground, after 3.7 miles. The old rail bed is undeveloped East of the Garden State Pkwy.
