Length:                Cedar Creek Park Outer Loop Trail; 1.3 mile Loop (1.9 mile Loop from Merrick Road)

                               Cedar Creek Park Inner Loop Trail; 0.7 mile Loop

                               Jones Beach Bikeway; 4.9 miles

                              Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway; 13.7 miles

Difficulty:            Cedar Creek Park Trail; Easy. Flat paved trails.

                              Jones Beach Bikeway; Easy. Flat paved trail. You may experience some serious headwinds. 

                              Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway; Easy. Flat paved trail. You may experience some serious headwinds. 

Directions:     

From the Southern State Pkwy take exit 27S to the Wantagh State Pkwy. Take exit W6E to Merrick Rd and head right. Travel 0.3 miles and turn right into Cedar Creek Park. There may be a fee. 

To park at Jones Beach you'll pay a parking fee.   

The Jones Beach Bikeway, also known as the Ellen Farrant Memorial Bikeway or Wantagh State Parkway Bikeway; South travels South, from CEDAR CREEK PARK , alongside the Wantagh State Parkway to JONES BEACH STATE PARK . There it connects with the Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway which travels East, alongside Ocean Parkway to Captree SP

Cedar Creek Park Trails:

Starting from Merrick Road [Northern End]; The wide, paved Cedar Creek Park Trail travels South, alongside the Cedar Creek Park entrance road. Pass by Field #1 Parking Lot and come to an *Intersection at 0.3 miles. This is the start of the Cedar Creek Park Outer & Inner Loop Trails that encircles the park.

Note; Left, East, brings you to the start of the Cedar Creek Park Inner Loop Trail. See Below.

Cedar Creek Park Outer Loop Trail:

Continue straight, South, along the Cedar Creek Park Outer Loop Trail, past Field #2 & #3 Parking Lots and come to an intersection. Head right, North and Loop around some ball fields, turning South, to another intersection at 0.6 miles.

Note; Right, West, is the start of the Jones Beach Bikeway. See Below.

Continue straight, to another intersection (next to a restroom) and bare right. This takes you along the outer edge of the park, then past Field #5 Parking Lot, where you turn right, past a playground to an intersection.

Note; Right, leads to the Archery range and dead ends.

Turn left, East and travel around the playground, then North, between the playground and roller skating rink to a park building. Travel right, past this building, back towards the park road and head right, East, along the trail. Cross the park road at 1 mile. Pass by Field #7 Parking Lot, where the trail turns North, past a sports field. Turn right, past Field #9 Parking Lot, to a 2nd sport field and around the parking lot to an intersection.

Note; Right, leads to Cedar St.

Head left, past the parking lot on your left and sports courts on your right. Cross the park road to an intersection and turn right, North, keeping right at the next intersection. Pass by Field #10 Parking Lot and come to an intersection. 

Note; Straight, leads to Field #1 Parking Lot.

Head left, West, past another **Intersection and the start of the Cedar Creek Park Inner Loop Trail on your left, before returning to the *Intersection after 1.6 miles. Right, North, along the Cedar Creek Park Trail will return you back to Merrick Road after a 1.9 mile Loop.

Cedar Creek Park Inner Loop Trail:

Starting from the *Intersection of Cedar Creek Park Trail; Head East, below Field #1 Parking Lot and come to an **Intersection. The Cedar Creek Park Inner Loop Trail begins here, on your right and travels South, past Field #2 Parking Lot to an intersection. Continue straight, where the trail travels around the inner ball fields, past Field #4 & #6 Parking Lots. Keep left at all intersections and the trail will Loop North, past Field #8 Parking Lot. Keep straight at the next 2 intersections and pass by Field #10 Parking Lot, before coming to an intersection. 

Note; Straight, leads to Field #1 Parking Lot.

Head left, West, back to the **Intersection completing a 0.7 mile Loop.

Jones Beach Bikeway:

Starting from Cedar Creek Park [Northern End]; [Re-zeroing Mileage] Map Board located here. Informational signs located along the trail. The paved trail leaves the park and travels South, alongside the Wantagh State Pkwy. There are several different Mileage Markers painted on the trail. The trail is out in the open. You'll cross Seaman's Creek Bridge over Island Creek at 1.4 miles. Wide open views of Seamans Island to your left and Olivers Channel to your right. Travel along Great Island before another bridge takes you across Goose Creek at 2.6 miles, then along Green Island. Pass by a Spur Trail on your left that takes you down to the Green Island Fishing Pier, before you cross a  final bridge at 3.2 miles. Pass through the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater Premiere Parking lots, before passing by a concession stand and playground and you'll come to a tunnel on your right at 4.9 miles and the end of the Jones Beach Bikeway

Note; Right, South, through the tunnel (underneath Ocean Pkwy), leads to the Jones Beach & BoardwalkBikes are not allowed on the boardwalk. 

Note; Left, North, leads to the playground and Zack's Bay.

Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway:

The paved, Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway continues straight, East, just below Ocean Pkwy on your right. [Re-zeroing Mileage] I haven't checked out this section. After passing by a second tunnel leading to Jones Beach & Boardwalk, the trail then travels alongside Ocean Pkwy. After 3.8 miles you come to a spur for Tobay Beach parking lot. The trail continues east passing by a spur to Gilgo Beach parking lot at 5.9 miles. Next you'll pass by Coast Guard Cove & Hemlock Cove, before passing Cedar Beach Marina at 8.8 miles. Finally you follow aside Great South Bay on your left,  travel underneath the Robert Mosses Causeway and come to the Captree State Park parking lot after 13.7 miles and the end of the trail. Here you'll find a boat basin and playground.
