Difficulty: Easy. Flat paved rail trail.
To Start from the Laconia Train Station; From Routes Bus 3/11A & 106 head north on Route 106 (Main St). Turn left into the parking lot next to the Veterans Memorial next to the train station. If full turn left along New Salem St and park by the train station.
The WOW Trail runs adjacent to the railroad tracks used by the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. It is proposed to run 9 miles long, stretching the length of the City to the Meredith and Belmont town lines. Phase II will extend the trail south to the Belmont town line. A short section of trail already exists in Belmont alongside Route 3. Belmont has plans to construct the Lake Winnisquam Scenic Trail running 5 miles from Laconia to the Tilton town line. Starting from the Laconia Train Station; The trail starts across Main St next to the RR tracks. Head right to access a cross walk. The paved trail travels alongside the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad tracks through a residential corridor. Cross Messer St at a 1/4 mile and follow the trail alongside the road. Cross the bridge by Lake Opechee and continue alongside Messer St until you reach Bisson Ave at 0.6 miles. Here the trail crosses and continues alongside the RR tracks again. The Lake is alongside your left but few open views. The trail currently ends after 1.4 miles at Elm St in Lakeport where you'll find a picnic table.
