Last Updated: July 29, 2017
Length: Lenox Rail Trail; 0.8 miles
Difficulty: Easy. Flat paved rail trail, with one slight hill.
From I-90 take exit 34 to Route 13 south. Just before you travel underneath a RR bridge turn right on Railroad St, then left on S Main St under the RR bridge. Take your first right on James St, parking lot is on your right next to the trail.
The Lenox Rail Trail follows an old rail bed just below an active rail line. Funds have been secured to extend the trail east from S Peterboro St (Skate Park) where it will connect to the Oneida Rail Trail in Oneida.
Starting from South Main Street; The trail starts off S Main St heading west.
Note; Funds have been secured to extend the trail east from S Peterboro St (Skate Park). A short gap would then exist between these two sections. To bridge this gap you'll need to travel north underneath the RR bridge and head right on-road (low volume) along Railroad St to S Peterboro St, turning right back underneath the RR bridge. A Skate Park is on your left after 0.3 miles with parking. This is where the trail will continue towards Oneida.
The paved Lenox Rail Trail travels west just below the active RR tracks along an open corridor. After 0.4 miles the trail turns left off the old rail bed and heads up a slight hill.
Note; To your right a grass lined path (orange arrow signs) leads past a small pond and back onto the rail bed. Part of the North County Trail.
The narrow paved trail ends after 0.8 miles at Port St.
