Last Updated: January 27, 2025
Length: Lenape Trail; 2.1 miles
Difficulty: Easy. Flat, paved rail trail.
Directions:
To Start from the Maple Ave parking lot [Western End]; From Route 1 take the Scudders Mill Rd exit. Take your first right on Campus/Plainsboro Rd. Cross over the RR tracks and turn right along Maple Ave. The parking lot is on your right across from Mill Pond Park.
The Lenape Trail follows Cranbury Brook from Mill Pond Park East. You can easily link up with other trails in Plainsboro to create a Loop.
Starting from the Maple Ave parking lot [Western End]; Cross Maple Ave to Mill Pond Park, where you'll find the 0 Mile Marker. Mile Markers every 0.1 miles. The Lenape Trail starts out as hard packed dirt and gravel (some roots) as you travel East, along a causeway, between Plainsboro Pond, a part of Cranbury Brook. Cross a bridge off the causeway where you'll find a Porto-Potty and some picnic tables at 0.5 miles.
Note; A paved Spur Trail travels North, before turning East, past Plainsboro Park, before turning North, to Plainsboro Rd after 0.6 miles.
Continue alongside the pond via a narrow, open paved trail. Enter the woods and come to an intersection at 1.3 miles.
Note; A paved trail travels North, to Enterprise Dr.
The trail then crosses a power line. The Fast Line Trolley, which operated between 1902-1937, crossed here, where the power line now runs. The trail continues East, then ends after 2.1 miles at the George Davidson Rd parking lot.
Plenty of paved paths run through Plainsboro to easily create multiple Loops. See Map Below.
