Difficulty: Easy. Flat crushed gravel rail trail.
Directions:
Starting from the Landry Soccer Field parking lot; From the intersection of Routes 12 & 101 in Ashburnham follow Route 101 south for 1.2 miles to William Rd and turn left. Quick right into the parking lot.
The Ashburnham Rail Trail follows an old rail bed. For such a short trail it's scenic. For more information visit; Ashburnham Rail Trail .
Starting from the Landry Soccer Field parking lot; Facing the building, the trail begins on your right. A path leads into the woods and the old rail bed.
Note; Heading Southwest, the rail bed is undeveloped and not accessible.
Head right, Northeast, along the narrow hard packed dirt & grass rail bed, quickly crossing Williams Rd. Here, the wide, crushed gravel Ashburnham Rail Trail travels through the woods. Cross a culvert over a deep gorge before crossing Cashman Hill Rd at 0.6 miles. Cross a couple of bridges over a creek before coming to the intersection of Willard Rd & Central St after 0.9 miles. Note; The old rail bed continues across the road but is undeveloped and not accessible.
