They connect the Mystic River Paths to the Minuteman Bikeway & Alewife T StationFor more information visit; ALEWIFE BROOK GREENWAY .

Alewife T Station, a stop on the commuter rail line into Boston is a hub for five trails. From the northwest, the Minuteman Bikeway terminates here and includes a spur for the Alewife Brook Greenway, just north of here, which connects to the Mystic River Paths . Head south for the Fresh Pond Loop Trail and a future spur from Fresh Pond that will connect to the Charles River Bikeway via the partially completed Watertown Branch Rail Trail .West takes you along the Fitchburg Cutoff , a short trail that is part of the larger Mass Central Rail Trail, still a work in progress. East takes you along the Red Line Linear Path which turns into the Somerville Community Path, both of which are part of the larger Mass Central Rail Trail.

Starting from the Minuteman Bikeway near Alewife T Station; You may access the Alewife Brook Greenway from the Minuteman Bikeway. Travel north along the bikeway from Alewife Station.

Note; Less then 0.1 miles look left across Alewife Station Access Rd to spot a sign reading "Walkway to Cambridge Discovery Park". This stone-dust trail travels 0.2 miles to Cambridge Discovery (Office) Park where you'll find a map board. To your left is Acorn Park where you'll find benches and picnic tables overlooking a pond.

Continuing north along the Minuteman Bikeway travel underneath Route 2 and look right for the trail access after less then 0.2 miles.

From the Minuteman Bikeway; Travel northeast through the marsh along the boardwalk and you'll come to a stone-dust path that runs alongside Alewife Brook. The brook resembles more of a canal at this point as it is cement lined. The path travels along the west side of the brook through a residential corridor. Reach Mass Ave at a 1/2 mile where you'll find the small Arlington Bicentennial Park. You'll need to head right across the brook to reach a cross-light over Mass Ave. Continue straight along a wide paved path on the east side of the brook alongside Alewife Brook Pkwy. Cross into Somerville and you'll pass by a bridge over the brook at 0.8 miles. A boardwalk takes you between the brook and parkway with views of St Paul's Cemetery along the west side of the brook. The paved path then crosses Broadway at 1 mile as it continues north alongside the Parkway. You now have some green space along your left as you pass by a playground, some ball fields, the Dilboy Field Pool & Dilboy Memorial Stadium before reaching the Mystic Valley Parkway traffic circle. Head left over Alewife Brook (which now drains into the Mystic River) to the western side and rejoin the stone-dust path at 1.6 miles.

Note; If you wish to extend your ride you can check out the Upper Mystic River Paths from here. See; Mystic River Paths .

Head south on the stone-dust path alongside Alewife Brook. This section also contains boardwalks through the wetlands. When you reach Broadway at 2.2 miles turn left back over the brook to a cross-light. Because St Paul's Cemetery runs along the west side of the brook you'll need to backtrack along the eastern side on the paved/boardwalk path. Just past the boardwalk turn right over the brook via a small bridge and continue along the stone-dust path along the west side of the brook. You'll reach Mass Ave at 2.7 miles. Use the cross-light left and turn right to rejoin the stone-dust path as you retrace your way back to the Minuteman Bikeway after a 3.3 mile loop.
